The decentralized exchange is one of the tools in the QtumX toolchain. According to our design, the blockchain built by QtumX can either run as an independent blockchain or a side-chain of the Qtum mainnet. When it runs as a side-chain, we expect that the token in QtumX can be exchanged with the token on Qtum mainnet. So, a decentralized exchange is needed to fulfill this task.
Yes. Although the exchange is initially designed for QtumX, it also can be used to exchange Qtum QRC20 tokens, like INK and SPC, with the Qtum token.
For example, if people want to build an exchange pair between QTX and the QTUM token, they should first deposit some QTX and QTUM into the smart contract held by the exchange, then others can perform a swap through this contract. However, such an exchange is not like the bid-and-offer way of a traditional exchange; rather a built-in algorithm is used to complete the conversion between tokens. The algorithm will follow the rule: when the smart contract owns more QTUM, the QTX can be converted into more QTUM, and vice versa.
